The new ABW workplace for TAL, Australia’s leading specialist life insurer has been designed for simplicity, flexibility and collaboration, whilst supporting TAL’s leadership market position. In response to this approach, CSM worked with the project team to provide a holistic storage solution to help realise this vision.

The integration of CSM’s Evolution cabinet range enhances flexibility and provides clear definition to work zones. The sliding door panels contain acoustic, sound absorption properties, enabling easy team collaboration to occur with minimal disruption to other users.

Supporting TAL’s ABW initiatives, CSM’s customised lockers were integrated throughout the environment facilitating greater diversity of work settings throughout the lifecycle of the tenancy.

Workspaces are flanked with Oxy Planter boxes and Evolution cabinets cultivating biodiversity and interior habitat.

High density rolling storage was incorporated with a customised vinyl graphic treatment for greater visual dimension.

This month’s edition of CSM’s Newsletter features JWT’s new workplace in Pyrmont. Jason Mellor, CSM Manager Customer Service, talks to the Geyer design team who share their objectives and inspirations for the project, and how CSM helped to create a space that is void of indifference.

To be the “Antidote to Indifference” is JWT’s working mantra. Their belief – Indifference is the greatest danger to creativity and their work. The design’s big idea expands on this philosophy by providing an engaging, eclectic and interactive reconfigurable space which conforms, flexes and embraces agile working which makes a difference to the way JWT’s people create, communicate, and collaborate amongst themselves and with clients.

Geyer were appointed to create such a space for JWT. As this was an ABW solution, they kept storage to an absolute minimum, and created an approach that was concentrated and contained within team zones. Personalised CSM lockers were introduced in the design to create a sense of ownership, and one Rolling Storage Unit was incorporated to satisfy archival requirements. CSM enabled the use of a storage solution that could be customised and unique to JWT’s needs.

CSM featured in the current edition of Design Quarterly Magazine issue 54 highlighting CSM’s 60 years of engineering expansion. CSM company directors Peter Letton and Mark Durrington explain:

The most recent edition of CSM’s newsletter features the TransGrid fit out by Bates Smart, who aspired to encourage collaboration, cohesion and increased transparency. TransGrid’s Head Office relocation to Sydney’s Haymarket efficiently unifies formerly separated business units into an equitable and interdependent work environment.

Victoria Harris, CSM Business Development Manager, talks to Brenton Smith, Studio Director at Bates Smart, about the innovation and specifications for the project which enlivens the surrounding vicinity and creates a sense of equality.

The new flagship Sydney office at No.1 Martin place for DLA Piper designed by Woods Bagot embodies the firm’s key principles to create an innovative workplace that provides flexible, future-oriented solutions and an environment that is a platform for a learning landscape.

Woods Bagot combined a predominantly open workspace with enclosed spaces allowing the firm to achieve the right mix of connectivity, collaboration, confidentiality and efficiency, as well as providing future proofing for the next generation.

The move towards an open plan workspace promotes collaboration by breaking down physical barriers, signalling a shift in the culture. Materiality and visual connectivity ensure staff and clients feel comfortable and considered within work spaces, while technology supports flexible work styles.

This new workplace is part of DLA Piper’s global vision to broaden and deepen its client relationships by creating a combination of consistent visual elements that physically manifest the DLA Piper brand in the firm’s offices around the world.
